Education is my passion! I have a PhD in Medieval English from the University of Leicester and eleven years of teaching experience.
I began teaching in the private education sector in 2008, and since then one-to-one coaching has been my vocation. I now own and run my own tuition business, Lemon and Grey Tuition, based on my years of experience in the field.
As well as tutoring clients and students in English I work as a writer, researcher and communications consultant in the education sector, writing everything from prospectus copy to press releases.
I have spoken about my research in Medieval English at conferences and events around the world, from major international congressional events in the USA to local adult learner groups.
I am fully DBS certified.
I have been working in private tuition for ten years. Although the majority of my work has been with GCSE and A Level students, I have worked with children as young as eight all the way up to Higher Education.
During that time I also taught the first year Undergraduate course in historical sources at the University of Leicester for four years. I structured a seminar series, set tasks and marked assessments.
In the past I have worked for the University of Birmingham as an Outreach Officer, designing and delivering English workshops to students at underprivileged schools.
Most recently, I have founded my own private tuition company, Lemon and Grey Tuition.
My approach is friendly, focused and has proven again and again to be effective. I love what I do, and therefore I give 100% to every one of my clients. Understanding, honesty and ethical practice are the cornerstones of my lessons and my business.
Over the years I have developed a system for coaching what many students struggle with - the ability to write a clear, confident, structured answer in an exam. I help my students to study smarter, organise their revision and ultimately to perform their best under exam conditions.
As well as my expertise, I bring empathy and enthusiasm to every lesson! Low confidence is a common barrier to success in any subject, and helping kids take control of their confidence and their studies is one of the most rewarding aspects of this job for me.
