I am 43 years old, mother of 3 teaching part-time in a local School.
I am looking forward to becoming a tutor again. Now I am back working part-time I have the ability to offer this service again.
I have been teaching now for 22 years and passed through the teaching threshold in 2009. I have taught in a range different Schools and have worked in Reception up to year 5. I have been through many Ofsteds and each time the School has achieved very good and outstanding. Alongside class teaching I have also been involved in small group intervention teaching in both English and Maths.
I have done some tutoring through my own School and have always had a positive response from parents and the children themselves. I usually do an introductory session where I introduce myself to the family, show my qualifications and discuss the needs of the child and the outcome hoped for. Before I start I want the family to be completely comfortable with what I can offer and throughout my tutoring sessions I incorporate assessment activities which show progression. I usually plan my tutoring sessions 6 weeks in advance and give parents a copy of the objectives for this and some targets. As a tutoring session is an added addition to School time I can include any homework that may need completing and I always try to make my sessions varied and enjoyable using games, the internet and many practical ideas.
