I am a passionate individual who has always had a childhood dream of teaching. Ever since I graduated from University in 2014 I have been fulfilling that aspiration and I have loved seeing the progress of all children I have taught thus far in my career. I have a love of travelling and bringing what I learn about other cultures into my lessons. At the moment my husband and I are undergoing our second self-build. Due to this I am tutoring around our exciting project of creating our first home.
I have been teaching Primary School aged students for the last decade and enjoyed every minute of it. I’ve worked both full-time in multiple schools around the UK and part-time as a private personal tutor. I teach children of all ages and also prepare them for entrance exams such as the 11+. To date I have had a 100% pass rate. Due to these pressures some children feel they are 'left behind' or not being 'challenged enough.' It is my belief that teachers have a responsibility to facilitate children in reaching their potential and making fantastic progress. I have experience of working with children one on one or in small groups to grasp concepts that they could not in class or introduce more challenging ones as they are ready. I have attended numerous training sessions to further my understanding of how children learn and therefore are able to implement strategies, based on research, specifically to meet the needs of each individual.
It is important for children to be challenged and achieve highly whilst enjoying their learning journey. I ensure children feel safe and secure, through the professional relationship I cultivate with them, to answer questions confidently and learn from their mistakes. In turn this motivates them to do well, be rewarded and make themselves proud. I start with an assessment of their current knowledge and highlight the gaps according to their age and year group as stated by the National Curriculum. From then on I teach the skills they need in order to be successful through various activities and tasks that practice a certain set of skills. At the end of each session I will assess whether or not a child has understood the learning objective fully and plan accordingly for the next session.
