I am an enthusiastic and experienced History teacher at Secondary from age 11-16 and Sixth Form (A Level 16+). I am professional and supportive and want to help young people develop their knowledge and the skills necessary to develop their understanding as well as develop their confidence and interest. In addition to my History degree, I also have a masters in Museum Studies where my research focused on how to engage young people and casual learners about History and the role of museums.

Tutoring Experience

I am an experienced Secondary History teacher where I have taught at Secondary, GCSE and A level. I have taught to a wide range of ability levels.
I have developed lessons and schemes of work to help support pupils at age 11 when they first begin Secondary school. I can help build confidence and support learning for pupils in Year 6 due to start secondary school, focusing on key historical terminology and techniques.
At GCSE, I have experience teaching a wide range of course topics from both the Edexcel and AQA GCSE History exam specifications.
At A level, I have primarily covered modern History with topics including Britain 1918-1951; Britain 1951-2007; Germany 1918-1989 & Russia 1855-1953. I can also support with other units, please contact me to discuss. I have experience with both the Edexcel and AQA A Levels. I may also be able to offer shorter sessions focused on essay marking and feedback. Please contact me to discuss.
I also have experience with Politics A Level.

Tutoring Approach

I can offer support, mentoring and tutoring which will help develop subject knowledge as well as a wide range of skills necessary to support further learning. First meeting will be to discuss requirements and needs which I will then use to build a programme of support. Skills can include analysis of both sources and interpretations, understanding historical concepts and key terminology and wider knowledge and understanding. I can also support revision and exam techniques including practice question marking.
As well as full lessons, I can offer 30 minute essay/exam question marking and feedback sessions.
