After graduating from Durham University with a first in Psychology, I completed my Masters in forensic psychology with distinction. I am now also completing my doctorate training in Clinical Psychology. I therefore have a broad range of knowledge and skills to help students with psychology essays or reports.
I have also always had a strong passion for music, studying the piano and singing up to grade 8 level standard. I am therefore very able at teaching GCSE/A level music, as well as grade 5 theory..
I also speak good french, and am able to help with translation work in particular.
I have successfully brought a failing GCSE English student from a U to a C in his final grades. I have successfully recently tutored a 5 year old to bring him from the bottom of his class to one of the pupils awarded "biggest development" at the end of the year. I have been teaching a 3 year old girl whose first language is Polish, to speak English. I have also helped with many psychology university students.
I have spent several years helping with after school clubs in my local primary school, assisting children with their homework and reading.
I have also taken two students through to their grade 2 piano exams.
I am first and foremost about getting children engaged in their learning. If a child is not interested, they will not learn. I therefore use lots of colourful drawings, diagrams, and games to try and explain more difficult concepts, which children love! These even work very well as revision aids for GCSE and A levels.
For ADULTS/UNIVERSITY LEVEL: I have a relatively traditional method of tutoring, giving help wherever I can to explain concepts. However, coursework completion etc, I fully believe this should be done independently.
