Private Psychology Tutor in Congleton

I am a professional, passionate and approachable teacher of Psychology who has acted as an AQA examiner for the past 8 years. I recently started working from home and covering lessons whilst I look after my young family, allowing me to be much more flexible with my private tuition. The last 2 years I have tutored 2 students who have not attended school due to personal reasons and so have completed the whole A Level through my tuition alone. Both students achieved an A grade. I have had excellent feedback from my tutees who say I have helped them improve their understanding whilst also boosting their confidence ahead of their exams. I am happy to pass on references. I hold a First Class honours degree in Psychology and a Distinction in my Masters of Education. Additionally I won the Kent Psychology teacher of the Year Award in 2015 of which my school and students nominated me for. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and helping students reach their true potential using a variety of teaching methods.

Tutoring Experience

I have been the Head of a successful Psychology Department teaching the AQA syllabus. I am also an examiner for the AQA board. I pride myself on my excellent professional working relationships with my colleagues and students, up to date subject knowledge and understanding of AQA and exam specifications. I taught Psychology at a highly successful Girls Grammar School in Kent for two years after achieving a Distinction in my PGCE in Social Sciences. I then relocated for my last role in 2016, teaching at a reputable local independent school until September 2023. I have been tutoring for 6 years and have had multiple tutees over this time, including those who have struggled to attend school for mental health reasons.

Tutoring Approach

I only take on 2/3 students each academic year as I believe this enables me the time and flexibility to offer the highest quality tuition. I am currently in the rare position of having availability for 1 or 2 students starting immediately. I tutor 1, 1.5 or 2 hour sessions weekly and am able to support students who are studying privately or through their own school. I offer a pupil led approach to tutoring, tailoring my sessions to the needs of the student and their own targets and abilities. I can recap areas of misunderstanding in the specification and give additional resources where required. I use a variety of exam questions and exemplar essays to ensure sessions are exam focused, adapting my teaching methods to the needs of the student. I want to ensure that we work together so that they are learning in a way that they not only prefer but enjoy! I do set homework in the form of past exam questions which I can then mark and give detailed feedback on. I have received excellent feedback from my students who say I am approachable and explain things very clearly. I offer online tuition through zoom or I can tutor from the students home for an additional fee.
