Hi all! I'm currently studying towards my BSc in Economics from the LSE (final year) and am offering a tutoring service (only in Maths currently, but more can be arranged upon message) to give back to current students. I will be based out of Solihull for the summer and London starting September (2023) where I am happy to conduct online lessons or in-person within reasonable distance. You may reach my WhatsApp at +Removed for any concerns. Thanks!
I have been teaching since young, having mentored GCSE French students (creating worksheets/ quizzes with 1000s of key terms, offering oral exam practice thus boosting grades by 25%) in small groups and worked as a professional in-person Tutor for Fine Tutors where I taught Mathematics from reception to GCSE level in larger groups.
Hence, you can be sure I am qualified to teach pupils across various ages, skill and teachability levels.
I understand the pressure students face in dealing with exams and revision, especially alongside coursework and university application. I found that not knowing how to revise most efficiently hindered my progress, so I hope I can help students eliminate the uncertainty behind preparation strategies by finding suitable methods for them.
My lessons aim primarily to help students understand topics in the wider context of their discipline, as I believe when a student can contextualise knowledge as a small piece of a larger puzzle, they can use this information as a tool in solving problems effectively.
I aim to present multiple techniques of grasping concepts, e.g. via examples and walkthroughs, answering any questions students have and deconstructing larger complex problems into smaller, elementary ones - I found this really builds confidence in students.
Then, once a student has understood a topic with my support, I find reinforcing this knowledge by attempting exam-style questions essential to the revision programme; besides, the end goal is developing proficiency to ace your exams!
Finally, the concept of spaced repetition is crucially to mastering information retention, and students will be encouraged to do this by revisiting topics briefly across lessons, alongside other methods outside of class.
