I am a qualified Primary School Teacher and have been working in Education for the last 10 years. I am offering tutoring at all primary levels, in SEAG Transfer Test and in Essential Skills English and Maths for adult learners. I am currently working as an Education and Youth manager for an organisation in Belfast and run reading and literacy programmes as well as after-school study support clubs.
I have been tutoring for the past 10 years and have a range of experience from early learning to adult learning. I am qualified in mindfulness and trauma informed practice, and have been delivering mindfulness based sessions for the past 5 years helping young people and adults build resilience and learn coping mechanisms. I taught Essential skills English and Maths for two years through an employability programme in South Belfast, I taught people from 16 yrs to 60 on this project, how to improve their English and Maths skills, some of these people had special needs such as hearing impairments and autism. Some of my learners came to me to learn how to read/write as adults.
Due to my work as a teacher and as an Education and Youth manager I am in close contact with Primary and Secondary schools across Northern Ireland and have completed a range of training.
I believe that every learner is different and must be taught as an individual in a way that suits their needs. I believe I am very flexible when it comes to my students as I tailor work so they can achieve.
Learning should not be tedious, it should be enjoyable and challenging!
