I am a very experienced teacher and see both economics and business as fun and enjoyable subjects. Learning them need not be dull or boring at all. However there are some aspects of the courses where good explanations really help students understand properly and save time. Over the years I have gathered many resources that work well so that whatever your abilities, I can adapt the teaching specifically to your needs.
I have taught economics and business studies for nearly 25 years. I have been a head of department in two of the top 10 schools in the UK, Magdalen College School Oxford and St. Helen and Katharine in Abingdon. I was an examiner for AQA and Edexcel.
I like to sit down with a tutee and work out a plan of action. Usually tutees seek me out before exams or after they have had some bad news after the AS results come in. It is important to identify areas of weakness. These are usually with the mathematical parts of the course or with essay writing skills. Once the weak areas have been identified we can then plan the sessions to suit your needs and make the best use of time.
If we have an hour's session then I try to break this up into three 20 minute chunks with different sorts of activity to keep you focused.
I like to set some homework after sessions and I mark and return your work. There is no extra charge for this.
