I am an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher of English. I am working at a high-achieving grammar school in Gravesend but also have several years of teaching experience in other grammar and comprehensive schools. I have been classed as an outstanding teacher since my NQT year, and achieved a First in my English Literature degree.
I began gaining teaching experience several years ago whilst working in a school in a non-teaching post. As a teacher, I have always worked as part of highly experienced and successful English departments since my training. I am experienced in teaching the skills required for both English language and literature, across the full secondary age range (11-18). I have provided tuition for a range of student abilities, age ranges, and schooling backgrounds, and am able to tutor to a variety of exam boards.
As with the teaching of my classes at school, I always hope to do more than just teach students to improve in English; I try to make English relatable and my lessons as enjoyable as possible, both to encourage students to engage with English and reading, as well as a general love of learning. Tutor sessions can focus on improving individual skills or knowledge of texts. I have frequently been complimented for my calm and approachable manner, both in an and out of lessons.
