I am a retired Secondary Head of Music, looking to find opportunities to teach Music privately up to GCSE standard or to teach piano or guitar or ukulele to adults or students. I can teach from home or possibly travel within the Exeter area.

Tutoring Experience

I qualified as a Secondary Music Teacher in 1986 and continued teaching full-time almost until 2020 at the start of the pandemic. I taught mainly in UK State Secondary schools within Cheshire and Devon. I was head of the Music department in all the schools I taught in.

Tutoring Approach

My philosophy of teaching Music is based upon the notion that Music should be fun, and it is my job to find ways to make it so. Also, I believe that all students need to be encouraged at all times, despite the fact that Music can be hard, and to succeed, we all need to practise!
