I am an experienced Psychology tutor. I hold a PhD in Cognitive Psychology at from the University of Birmingham. Previously, I graduated with a research-focussed Masters from Cambridge University. I have an enhanced DBS certificate.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 6 years of experience in tutoring pupils and university students in Psychology (including statistics and research methods), German (my native language), Spanish (bilingual proficiency) as well as English. I have in-depth knowledge of the UK GCSE and A Level curriculum in Psychology (AQA, OCR, Edexcel) and use up-to-date past exam papers to guide my teaching where relevant. Drawing on my experience from successfully publishing in academic journals, I also offer advanced feedback on dissertations or other project work at undergraduate and graduate degree level. In addition, I offer proofreading and individualised feedback to personal statements for university admissions. I have also successfully worked with mature students and casual adult learners in the past.

Tutoring Approach

I have a flexible approach to my lessons, however, I generally plan my lessons to include small pieces of information and intermittent learning goals, balancing explanations with giving students opportunities for applying and practicing the newly learnt information. To ensure continuous progress, my lessons usually start with a quiz or a quick recap of the previous lesson’s content. If desired, I provide students with further useful materials to be completed independently in between lessons. Where possible, I like to connect study material to real life examples that students can relate to. I’ve observed that when seeing the personal relevance of the subject matter, students have often shown significant learning progress, motivation and understanding. I always welcome questions and feedback.
