I love working with young people and am passionate about providing students with the best possible education that will benefit them throughout their adult lives.
I have over 10 years of teaching experience in this specialist field.
I teach pupils from Year 11 (GCSE exams for Maths and English) down to Reception (phonics, basic numeracy, Spelling, Comprehension and Grammar).
I provide SATS, 11+ preparation (Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning alongside English and Maths) and tuition for home-schooled students.
I offer tuition for students that may be struggling at school, those aiming to achieve a particular grade from an upcoming exam, or those simply wanting to excel in Maths or English.
Please don't hesitate to contact me, to talk about how best to meet the needs of your son or daughter.
I graduated with a Diploma in Architecture at the Witwatersrand Technikon, in Johannesburg. After moving to the UK and the birth of my daughter, I joined a school providing for pupils with learning and behavioural difficulties, as a Specialist Support Assistant. I subsequently gained Higher Level Teaching Assistant status and was appointed Lead HLTA at the school, managing a team of Specialist Support Assistants. Working at this school, was invaluable in providing me with experience in teaching pupils across the entire range of intellectual and behavioural spectrum.
I completed the Teacher Subject Specialism Training (TSST) course, which provides high quality professional development to those teaching GCSE mathematics at Secondary and Tertiary levels.
I then progressed to one-to-one individual tutoring and now have over 7 years of teaching experience in this specialist field. I am ASD trained and have good experience with ASD students.
I make sure that lessons meet each individual's needs, abilities and personality.
I believe education should be a stimulating and interesting experience and I am therefore creative and flexible in my approach. I listen carefully and patiently and respect my pupils.
Honesty and openness are key to engaging the young person in the learning process. In being honest and open I earn my pupils respect.
Realistic goals need to be established in cooperation with parents/ carers and pupils. Years of successful tutoring have given me the confidence to work in partnership with pupils, parents and other professionals involved with the pupils to achieve an optimum learning outcome.
