My name is Christina and I am an experienced Primary School Teacher. I spent around 20 years in the classroom, and I now tutor children of all abilities.
I am also qualified as a Specialist Dyslexia Teacher, having trained with the British Dyslexia Association.
If your child is having difficulties in school, I can help! Is their spelling a little erratic? Their handwriting a bit wonky? Or maybe it's Maths that is worrying them? Contact me to see how I can help!
During my time in school, I have taught all the Primary Year groups, so can tailor your child's tuition to their exact need.
I spent many years teaching Year 6, so I'm fully qualified to give your child a little extra boost when they reach their SATS. I am also happy to teach Year 5 children all aspects of the curriculum required for their 11+.
Whilst tutoring, I have successfully educated students to GCSE level. I also have experience teaching Study skills to older learners and University Students.
I have taught children with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia and speech and language difficulties. I have also taught children who were gifted and talented and needed a little extra challenge.
I am a Specialist Dyslexia Teacher, having gained a Level 5 qualification from The British Dyslexia Association. As a result, I am able to break down reading and writing into small, achievable steps and I use engaging, multi-sensory activities to aid learning.
Research shows that children learn best when they are having fun-so that's what I like to do!
For younger learners:- Playing games, making Egyptian Mummies from apples, investigating letter formation using pipe-cleaners, practising spelling using a big gym ball....we've done them all! Combine this with an individualised approach that is carefully planned to identify each small step needed to build on success, and that's where the magic lies.
For older learners:- we will still play games and use practical equipment to help the student fully understand new concepts, however, the emphasis will shift increasingly towards formal learning.
Whenever possible, lessons take place in the fully equipped tutor room at my house where I have numerous resources to keep the lessons fast-paced and interactive.
During all lessons, there will be practical activities that are fun and engaging. There will also be written activities where we practise the skills that we have learnt so that they are fully embedded.
