Fully qualified teacher of English based in the Lanarkshire area. Additionally, I am a marker for the SQA at Higher Level. Completed honors degree in English at the University of Strathclyde and PGDE at Edinburgh University.

Tutoring Experience

I have experience teaching BGE, National 4, National 5 and Higher Level English to young people with a variety of learning requirements. Additionally, I have experience marking for the SQA at Higher Level.

Tutoring Approach

Before my first visit I like to find out the specific learning requirements of the student. In particular, I try to ascertain whether or not there is an area of the curriculum in which the student requires additional help. This way, I am able to create a tailored learning programme which meets the specific needs of the learner.

At National 5 and Higher level I am able to offer support with Close Reading (RUAE), Critical Reading (both Scottish set texts and Essay writing sections) and folio work. I also place a particular focus on exam technique.
