After completing my BA in Music at Southampton University in 2012 I began work as a full-time freelance musician. I have played for various recording sessions, as well as performed both small and large ensembles, orchestras, folk groups and jazz/soul bands. I also had the pleasure of studying the Alexander Technique and subsequently have a strong awareness of body movement. I have also studied many different techniques to aid in helping to build confidence and help prepare mentally - and physically - for performance.
I have taught violin at secondary school and college where I also led the school orchestra and folk ensemble.
As well as performing professionally, I also teach violin/viola for the Southampton Music Service, as a peripatetic and class teacher in primary and secondary schools around Southampton.
I believe in flexibility for each pupil and aim to base the way I teach around the needs of the individual person; to help the pupil achieve the goals they have in mind, and find them something to focus on. The pupil should be happy and confident in what they are doing, and I endeavour to find alternative teaching methods if they are not.
I offer first lesson half price, as a "get-to-know-you" session which will give the pupil a chance to see how I teach, and give me an opportunity for some basic assessment.
