With over 15 years of teaching experience, I am a successful and confident teacher of GCSE and A' Level computer science and a proficient programmer in Python, Java, C++, HTML and JavaScript. I have knowledge of all examination boards, (inc. BTEC, OCR, iGCSE, Edexcel, IB & AQA) and I am a registered examination assessor with both OCR and Edexcel. I am currently the Head of Department and Head of Digital Learning at King's School, Rochester a prestigious independent school in Kent. I thoroughly enjoy tutoring to work more closely with students to foster a love of learning and develop their passion for computer science.
Previously:
- Head of Department Dartford Grammar School, Dartford, Kent (OCR GCSE / IB Computer Science)
Currently:
- Head of Department / Head of Digital Learning King's School Rochester (Edexcel GCSE / AQA A' Level)
- Online Computer Science tutor (iGCSE, OCR, Edexcel, AQA GCSE / OCR & AQA A' Level / L3 BTEC IT & Computing)
As a tutor and classroom practitioner, I am enthusiastic about education and always strive to do the best for my students. Through my knowledge of computing pedagogy, I incorporate many approaches grounded in the science of learning and ensure my lessons are tailored for the individual student's needs. I prefer a student-centred, inquiry-based approach to teaching, whereby students are actively involved with the lesson at all times and are encouraged to question and reflect on their learning to develop a deeper understanding of core concepts.
