I'm friendly, approachable, and my past students have noted the genuine passion I have for education. If you asked them, they would say that I made my lessons fun, engaging and interesting, and what always comes across is how much I care. I would never be satisfied with a desk job or working in a shop; I want to make a difference to young people, to inspire them and motivate them to go out into the world and achieve the best they can.
I've been teaching English in secondary schools across Norfolk for 10 years. I have experience working with students at all levels and with a variety of needs. I also work as a Senior Examiner for AQA in English Literature, which requires me to mark papers but also mentor other examiners through the marking process. This experience has also benefitted my teaching of the English Language GCSE and enables me to stretch and challenge the brightest learners.
My approach is highly individualised, as all learners are different. I tailor my curriculum to suit the student's interests and passions (where possible), and, of course, their needs. I go to great lengths to find reading material that will engage them. I am very flexible; if something isn't working, I change it. I conduct assessments at various points throughout the tuition process but in a subtle way that ensures the student is put under minimal pressure and stress; these assessments enable everyone to see the progress being made over time.
