My name is Claire and I have two children who are 15 and 6. I am a qualified teacher who has worked in both the state and independent sector and, more recently, has been part of senior management teams in charge of curriculum, I love teaching children and always aim to make lessons an enjoyable experience.
I have been teaching primary aged children since 2005 and have been Head of Department and in Senior Management. I have taught across all primary subjects and have experience of teaching both the gifted and talented and those with SEN.
I currently am Head of Prep at Cambridge Online School and teach a Year 4 class. I also am part of the Government's National Tutoring Program, teaching English and maths to children who have need a boost after school lockdowns.
My experience also involves teaching children privately who are electively home educated due to social and emotional difficulties such as Adhd, ASD or other SEN. My patient and understanding approach has led to these children feeling confident to attend my lessons and able to make progress.
My teaching approach focuses on identifying the pupil's interests and strengths and building upon those to engage, challenge and support them in the learning. I provide achievable next steps but also like to give the pupil ownership of their learning by encouraging them to reflect on what they have done and review it. Most of all I aim to build a good relationship with the pupil in order for him or her to make continued progress.
