I LOVE teaching, and have spent my whole career to date doing just that in a variety of subjects, contexts and countries.
Having lived in London for many years, I'm now based in rural Suffolk where I'm usually found swimming in the sea!
Between 1990 and 2012, I held the roles of Head of Psychology, Teacher of Government & Politics, Head of 6th Form, Vice Principal and Deputy Head (not all at once!).
I was also a Senior Examiner in Psychology (AQA Specification A).
I have also worked as a senior educational consultant for the past 12 years, advising people on university applications, including personal statement writing, university and course choices, mock interviews (including Oxbridge, Medicine, Veterinary Science and Physiotherapy).
I also advise on post-graduate applications and interviews.
Since then, I have continued teaching, but in the field of mental health and wellbeing for young people and adults.
I am passionate about supporting others to learn - through encouragement, confidence-building and beginning to trust their own understanding.
My least favourite learning technique is the memorising of facts. People learn when they are interested in what they are learning. My lessons therefore involve a sound combination of energy, humour and rigorous analysis of what's being learned.
