I live in the beautiful Malvern Hills where I enjoy walking, yoga , gardening and swimming. I am a keen explorer/ traveler of the world and love a challenge both mentally and physically. I enjoy keeping up to date with current psychology research, reading widely from BPS online as well as Psychology Today and The Psychologist.
I have 19 years experience of teaching A level Psychology in a large mixed sixth form with a range of abilities and learning needs. I have taught AQA syllabus past and present. OCR syllabus and BTEC Applied Psychology level 3. I was Head of the ESOL Department (English as a Second Language) for 7 years and have worked with students from all over the world teaching English, IGCSE and TEFL Edexcel and Cambridge examinations. I have worked abroad in Japan for 5 years teaching English as an Additional Language.
I am a lively and engaging teacher who is able to explain complex ideas clearly. I am excellent at helping students understand the key words in exam questions and enabling them to form answers in clear, concise, effective style. I am very approachable and students feel at ease and confident with my person centered style. I am particularly interested in stress and effects on learning, applying theory to practical application for students at exam time. I have a wealth of knowledge on both AQA and OCR specifications for A Level Psychology and am confident in helping students reach and excel in their exams.
