I am an experienced primary teacher with a passion for all things literacy!
I will never tire in my quest to ensure that all children I teach learn the lifelong skill of reading...it really is the key that opens the door to the rest of the world!
I am a mum to two children who attend secondary school and am well versed when it comes to juggling work, home and school life!
I have over 20 years teaching experience and am particularly skilled in the teaching of reading, spelling and writing. In the last 5 years I have worked extensively with children who are struggling to read and write and are not making the progress they are capable of.
For the last 4 years, I have privately tutored pupils from p1-7 and have enjoyed the successes the children have gained in their time with me. They have not only made progress in literacy but, most importantly, have gained confidence in their abilities as a result of appropriate and direct teaching instruction.
The children I have tutored come from a variety of educational settings, including local authority and privately run schools. All children have made progress.
I carry out thorough and robust assessments to clearly identify the needs of the child and tailor that support accordingly.
My teaching methods are research and evidence based and particularly support those who find learning to read and other aspects of literacy challenging.
