Tutoring Approach

I like the challenge of educating people and developing an outstanding and enriching learning opportunity. I enjoy having an impact on how learning is organised, delivered and developed. I am fair, a good judge of character and believe that holding people to account for their responsibilities empowers them to do their very best and feel proud of whom they are. I make it a priority to listen to colleagues, clients, students, teachers, and children in order to understand their educational development. I believe education should be fun and exciting where people can learn in a secure environment and be willing to take risks when trying out new ways of learning. Everyone ultimately needs to be encouraged to develop themselves, through self-motivation and reflection on what, how and why they are learning.
I have a great deal of experience in delivering tailor made programmes for pupils in many different contexts, such as: working towards Common Entrance at both 11+ and 13+; developing pupils looking for scholarships at Senior Schools; focus tutoring for children with SEN; focused tutoring for more able children; and tutoring children who are not currently in a standard school setting.
I pride myself on having exceptional communication skills, patience and an innate ability to identify the best way to convey the material that matches the individual needs of every learner.
I have exceptional knowledge and understanding of the curriculum and a very strong background in the subject areas I teach. I am exceptionally well-informed about the current education system and know what is expected of students at the various educational levels in the subjects they are learning.
As a tutor with a comprehensive educational understanding and pedagogy, I recognise that students learn best when they have more attention to their individual needs and one-on-one learning is adaptable, focused and modified to the individual. I know that all learners should be given an equal opportunity to be successful and have strategies to cope with any obstacles that may arise as they mature and learn in our diverse society.
