I began as a classroom teacher, maths/science coordinator then Deputy Headteacher, I then spent many years as the Headteacher of both a Primary and then a Junior School. Now semi-retired, I have many years’ experience of teaching and tutoring, including SEND pupils.

Tutoring Experience

Throughout my career I have always maintained a passion for teaching. I use the latest educational approaches that maximise pupil progress. Alongside my private tuition I have also been working in Primary Schools for the National Tutoring Programme with small groups and individual pupils – the positive impact of which has been significant with all the children I have worked with showing measurable improvements, exceeding the target grades set by the schools. I tutor primary maths, SAT's preparation and 11+ entrance examinations.

Tutoring Approach

My aim is always to make the process of learning enjoyable. Pupils need to be challenged and made to think – we only remember what we think about! Learning needs to be tailored to the specific needs of the pupil to gain maximum improvement and so all of my lessons are planned and delivered with this in mind.
