Hi! I am Courtney, I'm a fully qualified tutor who has a vast amount of experience with tutoring SEN and homeschooled children.

During my own schooling as a teenager and young adult I homeschooled; this enabled me to build a strong ability to plan lessons and gather resources as I had to teach myself the course content for both my GCSE's and A-levels. Homeschooling allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of the education system and I feel I have a unique outlook and teaching style because of this experience. Homeschooling also gave me the unique perspective of how it feels to be a child in mainstream education who needed extra provisions in order to flourish. I want to help provide the kind of support that I needed during my own schooling to other children, to help them find enjoyment from education.

In my spare time outside of tutoring, I enjoy painting and yoga. I find that yoga allows me to clear my mind and enables me to be a better tutor.

Tutoring Experience

I have had my own tutoring company since mid 2022 and I have delivered thousands of lessons over the last few years. I have helped students achieve great results in their exams and have helped to build confidence in a wide array of subjects.

I have worked in a number of schools across Doncaster, typically working in 1:1 SEN support roles. This has enabled me to develop my teaching skill set and has allowed me to adapt my skills to a wide range of pupil needs. I have experience with a number of different additional needs, including ADHD, Autism, and Dyslexia.

Tutoring Approach

Revising content for exams is only one part of ensuring exam success. Learning how to answer exam questions in the ways that gets you the marks is another. This is why I always take a focus on practicing questions from past exams so that you know exactly what to expect when it comes time for the real thing. I also go through mark schemes and model solutions to show you exactly how to achieve top marks.

A common issue I have found whilst tutoring, is students feeling as though they don't know HOW to revise. This is why I go through an array of revision techniques to find the right fit for each student. This approach has ensured that all of my students have passed their exams after having tuition sessions with me.
