Craig

Hi there!

I'm Craig and I am a qualified secondary Chemistry teacher, looking to offer private tutoring to those that need a bit of extra support. I am offering tutoring for chemistry at SQA National 5 and Higher level, both of which I have experience in teaching and tutoring.

I am a kind, patient person who gets a real satisfaction in helping others learn and achieve, hence why I got into teaching myself. During my time at school I was lucky enough to be taught by some fantastic teachers and tutors. The support and patience they showed me during my studies helped me greatly and this is what I aim to provide during both my lessons in school and my private tutoring sessions.

The sessions I offer are very flexible and tailored specifically to the tutees needs at the time. If the tutee is not sure of what aspects of the course they need help with then that is no problem, I can help with that. I know it can be for some quite daunting and difficult to choose where to start!

I am free for tutoring at weeknights and also open to occasional weekends. If you are interested then please feel free to contact me and we can arrange suitable times.

Tutoring Experience

As a qualified chemistry teacher, I have experience of teaching chemistry to classes at both National 5 and Higher levels. During my teaching career I have also been involved in delivering extra support sessions for both these levels. This includes lunchtime and after school classes and Easter Holiday revision classes.

I also have previous experience of private tutoring both National 5 and Higher chemistry.

Tutoring Approach

The sessions I offer will be very relaxed to help put the tutee at ease with their learning, so they are not afraid to make mistakes or to ask questions - there is no such thing as a silly question!

As mentioned above, each session will be tailored to the tutee's needs on the day. I will ask them to highlight what areas of the course they are struggling with and what things they want help with, to make the session more beneficial.

The sessions will have a mix of different teaching approaches - again depending on the tutees needs and preferred style of learning. This will include explanations of areas of the course found difficult as well as practise of questions on the topics. I have a wide variety of resources to hand which can be used to help support the tutee's learning during the sessions.
