I’m 31 years old and currently teach Year 6 full time in a Primary School. I’m an enthusiastic sportsman and love playing football, as well as keeping fit by running. I originally went to university to study sports science, as it is a combination of two subjects which I thoroughly enjoy. Whilst at university on a work placement, I found a passion and enjoyment for teaching. I am the youngest of 3 siblings, all originally from North Hampshire. In my spare time I enjoy socialising with my friends or siblings, alongside looking after a husky!
I’ve been teaching Year 6 for 9 years and have experience in all year groups of KS2. I would consider myself very knowledgable on all aspects of the KS2 maths and English curriculum, particularly in Year 5 and Year 6. Every year I have seen the SATS results of my class increase and the last five years have seen them achieve scores which are far above the national and county averages.
I’m enthusiastic about teaching and try to make my lessons as fun and memorable as possible. As a child, I sometimes struggled to maintain focus in lesson and I use this as learning blocks for my own teaching now. I’m keen to build a good working relationship with any child I teach and I am willing to think of outside the box strategies to help them if they are struggling.
