I am a Qualified Teacher with seven years experience and a track record of students achieving the highest grades and significantly above target. I have been a Head of Department and a Head of Year. I am currently an Examiner. In addition, I have been a Foster Carer for many years.
As well as teaching Geography for seven years, I have taught History and Religious Education at Key Stage 3. In addition, as a pastoral leader I have been responsible for the overall welfare and academic progress of a large number of students so I have significant experience in identifying barriers to learning and overcoming them.
I specialise in making learning an enjoyable experience which boosts confidence and academic progress. My experience is at Key Stage 3 and GCSE, however, I am confident in tutoring students in Key Stage 1 and 2.
Although, my specialism is Geography, I am happy to discuss bespoke tutoring services, including for those home educated or requiring an alternative provision.
In Geography, at GCSE, I teach students how to revise through retrieval practice and interleaving. Furthermore, there is a focus on exam strategies and exam question technique. Finally, to achieve the highest grades, I support students to develop a wider geographical knowledge and make links to their local geography.
