Hi there!
My name's Daniel, and I have just graduated with a First Class degree in BSc biochemistry from UCL. I achieved A*/9 grades in all my A-levels and GCSEs, and I am now keen to pass on the knowledge that has gotten me this far. I look forward to dedicating my time and energy towards helping a range of students achieve their full potential.
During my A levels, I had a number of free periods in which I volunteered to tutor GCSE students of varying abilities, both one-on-one and in groups.
This has helped build my understanding of the challenges many students face, not only on an academic level, but also more personal obstacles such as a lack of motivation.
I have therefore developed the patience, knowledge and enthusiasm to develop a positive relationship with students and ensure their success.
I strongly believe that any student is capable of achieving top grades if they can be motivated in the right way and are committed to doing their best. Learning is not just about memorising and regurgitating answers, but rather understanding a topic fully such that you can answer any question in relation to it.
The key to effective tutoring is communication; I can only help a student improve their understanding of a topic if they are open to explaining what they do and do not understand, so that I can tailor a programme towards their needs. Past papers and practice questions are then critical not only to solidify understanding of a topic, but also to familiarise students with the format of questions and allow them to decipher what is being asked.
Providing a student is committed to trying their best, I am therefore confident that my tutoring approach will help to facilitate their academic success.
