Hello! I'm Dan, a junior doctor (FY1) working in the NHS after graduating from Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry earlier this year. I graduated from Brunel University London with a First Class Honours in Biomedical Sciences (BSc) prior to this; I graduated with the highest grade in my year and, as a result, received awards from both the Royal Society of Biology and the university.
I was a peer-assisted learning leader for 1 year in my first undergraduate degree. For this, I created teaching sessions for undergraduate students in the years below me and went over core (or what I call "high-yield") topics that were likely to be examined. I ran these sessions for groups of students, usually approximately 10-15 students at a time.
Informative, engaging, relaxed. I try to keep students as engaged as possible by changing the way we approach different topics. I learn how my students learn best and then tailor the sessions to this, ensuring they obtain the most valuable information from the sessions. I have a relaxed teaching style, which helps students feel less-pressured; in my experience, this leads to more productive and enjoyable sessions.
