I have a BSc, MSc and PhD in Psychology and consequently an advanced and broad knowledge of the subject. I am passionate about my subject and many of my A-level students have gone on to study Psychology at degree level.
I am a highly experienced Psychology teacher, having spent 15 years as Head of a thriving department achieving outstanding results well above the national average. I have now taken 6 cohorts of students through the new linear A-level. My success is down to understanding the specific needs of individual students and building strong and trusting relationships in order to ensure students fulfil their potential. In addition, I am an AQA examiner and therefore have a deep understanding of the skills and requirements of the A-level examination.
As a tutor, my emphasis is on developing strong understanding of the topic areas in order to be able to use and apply knowledge effectively, to develop the skills of analysis and evaluation in order to properly discuss material in relation to psychological issues and debates, and to develop effective writing techniques so that students can clearly demonstrate their understanding in a way that achieves the required marks
