I am currently working as a mathematics teacher at a highly selective sixth form in London and as a class teacher at university in London. I hold QTS and a PGCE from Kingston University London.
Before this, I studied mathematics (Bachelor and Masters) in Italy and completed a PhD in mathematics at the University of Toulouse III. I have extensive teaching experience in higher education (University of Oxford, LSE, University of California-Berkeley, University of Toulouse III) and I conducted my own research, publishing in highly-renowned international maths journals.
In the last six years, I have had the chance to teach mathematics in various countries (Italy, France, UK) and at different levels (Secondary, Undergraduate and Graduate).
Secondary: I am currently a Teacher of Mathematics at a sixth form in London.
I am also part of the Researchers in School Programme, which promotes an evidence-based approach to teaching.
Undergraduate and Graduate:
- I have given undergraduate tutorials/classes at the University of Oxford (Groups and Group Actions, Linear Algebra), at LSE (Further Mathematical Methods) and at the University of California-Berkeleu (Calculus)
- I have given graduate tutorials/classes at the University of Oxford (Algebraic Geometry)
- I have given undergraduate lectures at the University of Toulouse III (Mathematics course for biology students)
While teaching at University and Secondary, I also did extensive private tutoring, both high school and university level.
I am able to teach in English, French and Italian.
In my tutoring I start from the belief that we learn from people we like. This principle informs my teaching: I am an approachable tutor who creates a relaxed, warm environment. These are the preconditions for an easy and smooth teaching-learning process.
Especially during the first lesson I will make sure to get a clear picture of what you already know and what you need to learn. Throughout the tutorials I will make sure to listen to your needs. This will allow me to be flexible in my practice and to tailor my teaching style to you. When trust and openness are at the base of the teaching learning process, concrete results and tangible improvements follow.
