2012 – Present Private Tutor Mathematics

I took early retirement due to ill health. For a while I was incapacitated, three operations in two years, but none of my conditions were chronic as the NHS did an excellent job. After recovery I started working for myself as a private tutor covering mainly Mathematics tuition. This involved quite a bit of travelling. I subsequently discovered there was an after school consortium just down the road from where I live. Initially I was involved in face to face sessions and then on-line tutoring. The on-line sessions increased considerably due to covid. Post covid I still have a respectable number of students. As time has progressed I find I am in a position to take on more work.

Tutoring Experience

2007 Early retirement due to ill health [Two very minor strokes partly due to an atrial septal defect (ASD) is a hole in the wall between the two upper chambers of your heart (atria) , two hip replacements, a prostate resection.]

Tutoring Approach

The transition to on-line tuition was not particularly problematic. As a tutor you often have to fill in students' learning gaps on the fly. Over time I have built a bank of resources and have become familiar with specific locations of particular on-line resources such as Mathsbox, Just maths and others.
