Hello, I am a fully qualified Primary school teacher. For six years I taught Maths full time at Secondary to all years including GCSE.
I have enjoyed teaching Key Stage 1 and 2, mainly working with Primary years 4 and 5. Currently I teach Year 6, guiding pupils through Literacy and Maths in readiness for their SATs.
Ofsted feedback on my teaching describe me as lively, imaginative and hard working. I form good pupil relationships and tailor activities and teaching to the needs of each child.
I direct, and act in local amateur theatre plays. Hobbies include crafting, badminton and writing. I have taught drama to young people aged 10 to 16.
I am CRB Enhanced checked.
My career has been blessed by teaching pupils with a wide range of abilities. I have taught in all years from Year 1 Primary to Secondary Year 11, also teaching A Level Maths for one year. Therefore I have an excellent awareness of the needs of a child's individual educational journey and the progress they need to make, whatever their age.
I started teaching in Primary in 1997. In 2007, having taught Year 5 and having ran a Youth Club for teenagers at Wilmslow Methodist Church, I decided to broaden my teaching range and took a position as a Secondary Maths teacher. I also taught Geography, History and Enterprise to Year 7 pupils. I taught Citizenship to KS3 AND KS4. I particularly enjoyed teaching lower ability Year 11 and GCSE students.
I consistently apply knowledge of the current curriculum and awareness of the new Government initiatives.
Confidence is the key.
My first step is to put a tutee at ease and then assess their current level. Taking into account the wishes of the parent and needs of the child, I plan a custom made package of provision to enable consolidation of existing knowledge and skills to provide progress.
Activities are fun, exciting and engaging with plenty of opportunity for pupil talk and explanation of their thinking processes.
As a current practioner, I benefit from INSET training on up to date educational developments. Recent training has included Assessment for Learning,
Kagan organisation, Literacy and Reciprocal Reading.
I believe parents deserve regular reports on their child's progress and therefore provide written feedback on topics studied. I detail attainment in line with National levels and areas needing consolidation.
