Teaching is my passion and tutoring provides the opportunity for me to continue teaching in a different environment, helping children on a one-to-one basis to reach their full potential. I am a creative person and aim to bring this side of me into my teaching wherever possible.
Through my 10 years teaching experience, I have taught Y6 for several years and have a strong knowledge of KS2 SATs as well as experience of teaching across all the other KS2 year groups. After gaining my PGCE in Primary education, I completed a MA in Education with a focus on writing which naturally led me to become a English coordinator. I have held this position for the past 8 years and I have gained extensive knowledge in this subject. Throughout my career, I have taken part in various research projects. One of the most valuable has been about children's attitude to maths and how to improve their confidence in this subject.
I use a range of approaches and styles in my teaching and adapt them to suit the child's learning needs. Using a variety of methods also helps to engage learners and makes learning more enjoyable. These could be the use of visuals, audio as well as games. The use of assessment is also an important strategy in helping to guide the next steps in a child's learning journey.
