I have been teaching for over 30 years and live in Chelmsford. I spent four years training to become a PE teacher in Plymouth, Devon. I am married to a teacher and have two boys in Year 7 and Year 10. I am a former Head of PE and now specialise in teaching foundation mathematics. During my time living in Essex, I have played regularly for Brentwood Rugby Club and Brentwood Cricket Club. I currently work part time in a local secondary school and help coach my youngest son’s rugby team.
I have taught in Devon, Cornwall, East London and Essex. I am a former Head of PE and Deputy Headteacher at St Martin's School in Brentwood. I have worked across our trust of schools and pool have presented in over 20 schools in Essex and the south-east. Since my move into the senior leadership team in 2003, I have specialised in teaching foundation maths. Which has been extremely rewarding. I have coached teams that have won national, county and district sporting titles in a wide range of sports including basketball, football, rugby, cricket and athletics. I have an excellent track record in helping young people master the basics of mathematics and am passionate about helping young people become successful.
I totally understand why some students find maths difficult. I present the content in ways that the students can engage with. I have access to a huge range of interesting and engaging maths resources that support effective learning. I am well organised and have a sharp eye for detail.
