My Promise to You
• Your lessons will be much more than just worksheets—they’ll be an active, inspiring journey tailored to help you thrive.
• We’ll work together to build your confidence, ignite your interest, and celebrate your progress every step of the way.
I began my teaching career as a volunteer teaching assistant in Yorkshire and the North East, providing targeted support for pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Special Educational Needs (SEN). I completed my PGCE in a number of culturally diverse London schools, where I developed the skills to adapt my teaching to a wide range of abilities and backgrounds. I am committed to research-informed, reflective practice, continually updating my approach to ensure it is effective and relevant. As a teacher and middle leader at a top academic school, I achieved a 100% pass rate and over half my students attained top grades (7–9), while also mentoring colleagues. As Head of Department at a low-attaining school, I led significant improvement, raising pass rates by 17% in just one year. In whole-school leadership roles, I have delivered research-driven staff training to support pupil progress across the school. I specialise in personalised support and differentiation for both individual learners and groups, ensuring every pupil receives tailored guidance to help them excel. My teaching philosophy centres on adaptability, inclusivity, and continual improvement, so every learner has the opportunity to thrive.
Personalised & Inclusive Learning
• Tailored to Each Learner:
I invest time in understanding every pupil’s strengths, challenges, and goals. Sessions are customised—whether supporting EAL, SEN, or high-attaining students—to ensure every individual makes meaningful progress and feels fully engaged.
• Adaptable Content & Methods:
My lessons are never “one size fits all.” I use a broad toolkit—discussion, hands-on activities, scaffolded practice, creative tasks—to suit each student’s learning style and needs in real time.
Preparing Pupils for the Real World
• Relevant, Real-World Learning:
I’m committed to equipping pupils with skills that go beyond academic achievement. Lessons weave in real-world scenarios, problem-solving, and applications that mirror what students will face outside the classroom.
•
Transferable Life Skills: In every session, I help pupils develop critical thinking, resilience, communication, and time management—skills vital for success in further study, future careers, and everyday challenges.
• Building Independence:
My aim is to nurture inquisitive, independent learners ready for life’s next steps, whether that’s exams, transitions, or making informed decisions in a complex world.
Research-Informed, Reflective Practice
• Evidence-Based Strategies:
I incorporate the latest educational research into my tutoring, ensuring that students benefit from methods proven to deepen understanding and spark independent thinking.
• Reflective Progress Checks:
I consistently review and refine tutoring plans based on pupil feedback and progress, helping students actively recognise and celebrate their growth.
Supportive & Encouraging Environment
• Confidence Building:
Every lesson is supportive and encouraging, providing stretch and challenge in an atmosphere where mistakes are valued as learning opportunities.
• Open Communication:
I maintain clear and open dialogue with pupils—and parents where appropriate—so everyone feels heard and involved. We set targets together, fostering shared responsibility for progress.
My tutoring philosophy is built on adaptability, inclusivity, and helping students become confident, prepared, and capable—ready to thrive not only academically, but in all aspects of the real world.
