I graduated from Liverpool Hope University in 1992 with a B.Ed (HONS) degree in Education and Music. I have been teaching for 29 years in the primary sector providing children with individual need teaching programmes. I have also conducted a successful school choir which has taken part in many events including 'Songs of Praise' and the M.E.N. Arena. I have taught privately for many years on a one to one basis preparing children for their SATS and also in music grades through the ABRSM.
I totally love teaching, being with the children, watching them flourish both academically and individually. Teaching has to be stimulating, creative and fun. Children learn best in a calm, bright, relaxed environment. I cater for each and every child's individual needs and work also along side the parents to help them support their children at home.
I am a highly motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking, trustworthy and conscientious professional who possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills. I am adaptable, flexible and committed to providing the highest possible standards of care and service.
19 years primary classroom teaching in a large successful primary school.
10 years running my own business 'A Star Plus Tuition '
I have supported a GCSE student with severe dyslexia difficulties through a Home Schooling scheme in GCSE Maths, English, Music and Human Biology with fantastic results.
I also have tutored 2 hours a week (in school time) a dyslexic student who is highly functioning at the top end of the spectrum. The student was released the 2 hours a week by the school for 1:1 tuition with myself. This worked a treat and the student gained a scholarship for 11+ education.
Dyslexia trained.
One to one music tuition from beginner to advanced level.
One to one tuition in English and Maths preparing students for SATS and the 11+
One to one tuition in teaching reading to those who need that little bit of extra support.
Teaching happens naturally, I approach tutoring in a calm, sensitive manner. Listening to children is of upmost importance. From listening I gauge where the student is at and prepare individual need lessons. I feel it is very important to build a teacher, pupil, parent structure so this benefits the child. Teaching has to be stimulating, progressive and fun. If a child feels secure, safe and at ease learning will take place much easier and quicker.
