I believe that joining the teaching profession as a second career has given me extra enthusiasm for the subject, as well as empathy for the different learning styles of students. My aim is always to instil confidence in students so that they can use their knowledge and ability to succeed in examinations.

Tutoring Experience

I am a fully qualified secondary school Maths teacher, so use the latest teaching techniques to enable students to really understand those areas of mathematics that are causing them difficulties. I can tutor a student for the following: 11+, 13+, Cranbrook entrance, Common entrance, GCSE, AS and A level. I have had very satisfactory feedback from the tutees that I have taught to date and would be happy to supply references.

Tutoring Approach

Being a personable character, I always aim to gain the confidence of the tutee so that they realise that the lessons are aimed solely for their benefit. In that way we become a team focussed on making the most of their abilities. The lessons are aimed at discovering their weaknesses for certain topics and rectifying those weakness by removing any misconceptions and approaching the topic from a variety of angles to find one that fits into their way of thinking. The more I get to know a student, the better I understand their individual approach to understanding so that I can quickly find an angle to a topic that will fit in with their understanding. I also use their strengths to build up their confidence and homework between lessons to reinforce their understanding.
