I am a sixth form biology teacher based in Manchester. Outside of college I am a keen cyclist, runner and a mediocre 5-a-side footballer. I also enjoy live music and comedy.
I have been teaching for 15 years at secondary schools and sixth form colleges. I have been Head of Biology at a sixth form college and I am currently a biology teacher at a very reputable 6th form college in Manchester. I have an excellent track record of achievement in my A level classes with a percentage of A*-B well above the national average. I also have successful experience of teaching on Foundation Biological Sciences and Pre-med / Pre-dentistry foundation courses for University of Manchester. I am an AQA A level biology examiner. Finally, search for my YT channel to see my teaching in action and what I can offer my students.
I apply my approach to teaching in college to a one to one situation. I have high expectations of my students, I encourage them to develop their own understanding through constructive activities. As an A level biology examiner I am able to lend my experience to improve exam technique, particularly the more challenging application, evaluation and essay writing skills required for AQA biology.
Since the beginning of lockdown I have been tutoring using Zoom. I also have a visualiser and pad / stylus which helps make the session more interactive. They allow me to annotate questions and provide more feedback I have also developed a number of online assessment materials for diagnostic and formative assessment.
