Hi! My name is Ellie and I have been teaching history in West Sussex for two years. Prior to this, I completed an MA in contemporary history at Sussex University. I have a particular interest in China and the Cultural Revolution. I’m an avid reader and latte connoisseur.
I’ve spent two years teaching at a well-respected secondary school in West Sussex and have supported GCSE students to produce fantastic results in both academic years. I have experience teaching both the AQA and Edexcel history specification.
I believe history should be made accessible for everyone and every student should be able to achieve a grade 4. I like to find out how learning/revision works best for students and use these methods to enable them to acquire the historical knowledge they need for their exams. I would focus on exam technique, breaking down each paper into individual questions that we would practice, review and redo. I find that this method is particularly effective, especially when done within the specified time limit for the question, as there should be no surprises when the student comes to sit their exam. I want to help students get to the point where they can open an exam paper and know exactly what to expect.
