I am a passionate teacher of Science and advocate for women in STEM. I first started tutoring as a student of Biology at University and then went on to become a Science teacher where I have delivered a range of curricula. I have worked at several schools with a wide range of students and have experience teaching students with English as an additional language, students on the autistic spectrum and other special educational needs. My favourite area of Biology is genetics and I have an interest in human behaviour.
6 years experience teaching Science at all key stages including A-Level Biology for both Edexcel and AQA.
8 years experience as a private A-Level Biology tutor. I have tutored all areas of the A-Level specification. Further, I have experience tutoring senior students (post-18) as part of a career change development.
Currently Deputy Head of Science and Head of KS5 Science at my school of employment. I am also employed as a level 3 practical skills expert for a nation-wide company where I deliver the practical endorsement of the A-Level specification to external candidates.
My approach to tutoring is one of collaboration. Whilst I am dedicated to producing the best learning resources for the student, I also encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning by helping them organise their time, teaching them how to produce revision resources and holding them accountable for completing work. I use exam practise in every session to help students apply their knowledge whilst also using a range of media and engaging activities. I can deliver sessions through teams, though I prefer in person sessions as I find them to be more engaging.
