I am passionate about and experienced in engaging young people with science. I enjoy helping people learn and reach their full potential. I have been involved in school science outreach for several years alongside my academic study.
I have worked in Widening Participation at the University of Exeter, helping school students from primary to sixth form achieve across a range of subjects including biology, geography, chemistry, maths and physics. I have experience working with students who have additional needs, communicating directly with them to form a personalised support plan.
During my PhD at King's College London, I mentored several Bachelors and Masters students through their research projects, all of whom achieved assessment high grades. I also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, teaching an undergraduate module on the immune system and laboratory cell culture techniques. I volunteered for multiple outreach activities during my PhD which worked with creative formats, such as developing games and generating social media content, to engage students with complex subjects. During my Undergraduate degree at Imperial College London, I worked part time as a tutor for primary and secondary school students in science subjects.
I want to help students to become confident and independent thinkers, to develop a mindset which will support them across a range of subjects. I believe in tailoring the approach find what works most effectively with each individual and addresses their specific needs. I like using creative and interactive methods to help students engage with the subject and to make the learning process fun! Fundamental to my approach is a patient, honest and helpful attitude.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and I hope to work with you soon.
