I am an enthusiastic, friendly and patient secondary school teacher based in Lincolnshire. Whilst my degree specialism is biology, I have experience teaching all three science up to GCSE level and specialise in A level biology content.
I have equal enthusiasm for all the sciences and am more than capable to explaining complex concepts for both chemistry and physics at GCSE. I aim to teach in an engaging and alternative manner, and thoroughly enjoy linking all three of these wonderful subjects together.
When I'm not working on lesson resources I can usually be found wandering the hillside with my dog!
I have been working at an OFSTED outstanding school in Lincolnshire for five years, during the challenging COVID times. I have taught at two schools so far and have taught each science to all year groups, from KS3, GCSE and up to A level. I am very much looking forward to being able to discuss my specialist subject at a higher level, where I can really help students to cultivate their interest and passion about a subject that is so wonderful. I look forward to working with students of all abilities and will push them to challenge what they thought themselves as capable of and to achieve the absolute best they can, regardless of their career path.
I am a friendly and approachable person, who will change their individual approach to students if a certain way doesn't work for them. Learning is very much not a one size fits all and I am more than aware of that. As such, I try to employ as many different tactics as possible to help students tackle tricky or abstract concepts. I have a bank of lesson resources for every topic for every science that I can utilise to reteach students completely if necessary.
Not only will I focus on the specification material but I will also teach students the tricks of how to answer exam questions. So, students will know specifically what examiners are looking for in specific questions and know how to get every mark they can. This will involve going through exam questions together and giving students practice questions to go through alone. I will of course mark these and then go through them with students, identifying common areas where marks are being lost.
