I'm Emily, an English Language and Literature graduate located in Sheffield. I am passionate about teaching and talking about English and learning to find meaning in words!
I have a warm and supportive persona and excellent organisation and communication skills.

Tutoring Experience

> Received the Instructor Cadet Lanyard at Cadets. I made lesson plans and delivered teaching to groups of 13 - 17 year olds.

> Causal tutoring and aiding of peers during my English degree and delivered some writing workshops with my society.

> Scout Leader in Crookes, providing informal leadership and tutoring to children between 10 - 14. (DBS and Safeguarding Checked)

Tutoring Approach

I'm very patient and help to encourage thought pathways that allow students to answer their own questions.
I aim to prompt students to thinks and consider their work first instead of supplying straight forward answers. With English being such a subjective area, I believe in an open and adventurous attitude toward teaching it, leaning into students strengths and supporting their weaknesses.
