Music Tutoring in Penarth

Hello! I'm Emily and I'm a classically trained soprano. I hold a Master's degree with Distinction from the Royal College of Music. Previously to this, I graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a BMus(Hons) in Vocal Performance of the First Class. I am a passionate performer and advocator for classical music and the performing arts, with a strong love for teaching and nurturing those interested in music.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching as a private singing tutor for the past 8 years, with both beginners and intermediate learners. I have tutored students through graded examinations, both ABRSM and Trinity Laban syllabus', as well as students who wish to sing simply for fun!

Before becoming a Freelance Soprano, I worked as the vocal tutor for multiple music schools; working with children ranging from Reception through to Sixth Form level. I now enjoy a thriving private teaching studio along side my professional singing work.

I offer vocal training from a classical background, however I have also tutored students in musical theatre, folk singing, pop and jazz. I primarily teach singing, but I also offer beginning piano lessons and tutoring in musical theory and aural training.

I am based in Cardiff/Penarth and I'm excited to hear from you and to help you begin your singing journey!

Tutoring Approach

I believe in teaching in an active and diverse way. I believe any child or adult has musical potential, they simply needed the right support and nurturing.
As a classically trained soprano, I believe in the importance of body work, breathing exercises and vocal technique in order to achieve the greatest result.
I tailor my lessons to the pupils specific needs, incorporating techniques such as; multi-sensory learning, Alexander Technique, Kodály and breathing and stretching exercises in order to assist the students vocal development. I believe singing should be freeing and fun, and therefore my techniques encompass this.
