I am a qualified maths and numeracy teacher offering maths tuition. I am educated to degree level.
I am passionate about maths and enabling others to fulfill their potential. I find my role rewarding as I have helped individuals access education in the classroom, progress to a higher set, improve their grades and gain qualifications necessary for a change of career. I can provide references from current and former students on request.
I have a current DBS certificate.
Outside of work I enjoy running, gardening and conservation.
I have worked in the mainstream secondary sector and also within further education (GCSE resits and functional skills maths) since 2016. I am currently working part-time for a multi-agency education trust providing tutoring in schools to Year 11 students in preparation for their GCSEs. I therefore have current and thorough understanding of the requirements for the GCSE maths exams and have worked with students to improve exam technique.
Additionally I offer private 1 to 1 tuition to children of secondary age irrespective of ability and adult learners. I have experience of working successfully with students with additional needs and those with English as an additional language.
Prior to teaching maths I worked as a personal trainer in the health and fitness sector. This involved motivating individuals to make positive lifestyle changes, set and achieve fitness goals.
I will treat you as an individual and listen to your requirements. I am professional in my approach and tailor sessions to your learning style to optimize the effectiveness of your sessions. By getting to know a little about you and your interests I am able to make material more accessible and relevant. I am very calm and patient and work at a pace appropriate to you.I believe it is my responsibility to help you overcome any barriers you have to learning maths, develop a 'can do' attitude and fulfill your potential.
I will support you in taking ownership for your learning and work with you to set specific achievable goals. I will give regular feedback on your progress and encourage you/ your parents to offer me feedback so we can ensure your sessions are as productive as possible.
I am flexible with regards to frequency and duration of sessions and would encourage you to contact me to discuss your requirements.
