I have just completed my second year exams at university studying a course called Discrete Mathematics (which is essentially Mathematics and Computer Science). I got a first in the first year.
I was the first ever Inspiring Excellence Course student to achieve a Platinum Villiers Park INVOLVE Award. During this, I was responsible for teaching students mathematics, improving their assessment scores by an average of 33% after only 5 hours.
Anybody can get an A* in Mathematics GCSE and A-Level. The most important things are to know what the mark scheme wants and to have a planned structure to tackle every type of question. It is also important to understand concepts fundamentally and not to only memorise things as you are then able to apply knowledge to unseen questions. Practice is key and solidifies and fills in small gaps in knowledge.
