I am a diligent and passionate student who has recently graduated in Law (LLB) at the University of Liverpool with a 2:1 and a first in my dissertation. I am currently undertaking a masters in law with the Barristers training course.
I thoroughly enjoy reading, in particular non-fiction about history and politics as well as classics. In particular, I am interested in feminism, race and social justice. This of course a common theme in many Classical litreatrure books and I incorporated this within my dissertation topic, "Forced marriage: An intersectional feminist critique on legislation and Policy", in which I received a 76%.
I have previous experience in mentoring students to attend top Russell Group universities with Zero Gravity, a Social Mobility Charity. During this time, my mentees were made offers to all their choices and were provided with tailored individual plans of actionable tasks to help them boost their personal staements and Knowledge in the degree area.
I also have experience in training and teaching students practical skills. During my time in the Liverpool Law clinic, I took up the role of a Family Project leader. This involved me training over 30 students in taking fact-finding phone calls and being a point of assistance. When traing students, I was friendly and created a positive learning emnviroment where students felt happy to ask questions. This therefore created a more effective, confident team of students ready to assist the solicitors. It was for this work as a Mentor that I received a ‘Highly Commended’ award for my “Outstanding Contribution to the Family Project mentorship/Leadership”.
My teaching approach would be to create a positive learning environment. I would help students not only with the content but also with their mindset to create a more resilliant and well rounded student who enjoys learning. My lesson plans would consist of teaching the content in line with their syllabus or clarifying any areas the student struggles with, I would then in turn set homework or tasks to give direct and personalised feedback too.
