Fiona

My son has a long standing interest in geography in terms of the inter-relation between the human and natural environments. He also has a strong interest in issues around climate change and aspires to a career that is organised around his interests and values. The staging post to that world is to do an environmental science degree and geography is one of the main subjects required at higher level A. Throughout secondary school his performances up till national five reflected those interests and his hard work where he got consistently good grades. However, when going into fifth year, the change of syllabus and teacher, created a bit of a negative feedback loop between grades and confidence levels.

We decided - somewhat late in the day following his prelims- to see if we could get a tutor and thats when we found Fiona on this site. From the initial communication onwards Fiona was very adept in setting us at ease with clear instruction regarding what substantive issues were holding our son back. Fiona and our son formed a plan around his needs and very shortly into that journey his performances and confidence improved markedly. It was clear from my conversations with my son that Fiona has a comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter and could communicate it to a level suited for my son. As well as knowledge of the subject matter there was also Fiona's deep understanding of how exam questions are formulated and how one goes about answering them both in terms of content and form. Its not just what you say its how you say it that matters in exams and Fiona ensured that our son was well coached in being able to give the answers in the way that examiners like. As such, it was inevitable he would get an A for the exam. As a parent I would strongly recommend taking on Fiona as a tutor for ones child if they want them to reach their potential!
